We are sorry to pass on some bad news. The Comedy Banner Network (CBN) is officially dead (that's kaput, no more, gone and bye-bye).

Why?! ... well here they are in order of importance:

1. A very basic reason came into play
..... M O N EY .....
You see, while we enjoyed some great traffic, the server load to run it was quite large. We ended up with the equivalent of dedicated hosting to try and meet the demands. If you've ever checked the prices for dedicated hosting - it ain't cheap!

2. Unfortunately the traffic demands were caused by a number of sites (some commercial and some that were very busy) who jumped on the opportunity to use the CBN system to promote their sites. Now that's not really a bad thing .. BUT .. considering that we only had a few sponsors to help cover the cost of services, it resulted in a negative cashflow but heavy administrative tasking.

3. Whining ... yep .. that's right! CBN was a free service to help promote comedy sites. Please note the word "free." Despite this we received LOTS of emails asking for technical support to set up or create banners and complaints about the few commercial ads we had running (to cover the lack of sponsors). It's sort of like giving someone five dollars and then they ask you for ten bucks!

So in closing .. a big thanks to the few of you that helped support the project. It was fun while it lasted and we apologize that circumstances, and a few bad eggs put an end to it.
